The first coat of acrylic was applied today along with the first draft of oil color.

Facial expressions

Adding colors to the portrait in black and white usually leads to a change in facial expressions.
Even after years of portraits I still find  fascinating that these changes occur in the transition from black and white to color.
What changes is not only the facial feature, but also the perception of the mood of the person represented in the portrait.
These continual small changes generated by traced  lines , added spots of color , and representation of light and shadow make the portrait alive in all its phases .It is deeply fascinating to sit in front of a portrait , and this portrait of a girl, and observe , in this case ,how the little girl 's espression changes along with the passage of time.

Aggiungere colori al ritratto in bianco e nero di solito porta ad una trasformazione nelle espressioni facciali
Anche dopo anni di ritratti trovo ancora affascinante questi mutamenti che avvengono nel passaggio da bianco e nero a colore .
Cosa si modifica non sono solamente i tratti  del viso ma anche la percezione del mood della persona rappresentata nel ritratto.
Questi continui piccoli mutamenti generati da cambi di linee e aggiunte di macchie di colore e cambiamenti di ombre e luci  fanno si che il ritratto  in tutte le sue fasi si muova e prenda vita.E' affascinante sedersi di fronte  a qusto ritratto ed osservare come riesca a non esere mai lo stesso , sembra quasi che la bambina rappresentata cambi espressione con il cambiare del tempo.

The Belle of the Ball- Charcoal drawing on a 24x30 canvas

 

Today I begin to paint a picture that has a lot of meaning for me. It 's a work in progress and the final picture will depict the technical skills I learned during my architecture college years and the figure skills I learned at art school. Soul and tecnique ...... straight lines and facial  expressions blended together in a painting that would like  to represent the Belle of the Ball who is hiding from the world and yet who is eager to wear a tiara and dance.

 

 

Oggi inizio a dipingere un quadro che per me ha molto significato. E' un quadro dove si mecolano le cose che ho imparato all'universita' di architetture e le cose che ho imparato al liceo artistico. Anima e tecnica , linee ed espressioni.
